Odoo Launches a Dedicated Marketing Card Module for Personalized Digital Campaign Mailings

Odoo introduces the Marketing Card application, a standalone module for creating branded, personalized digital cards tied to events, contacts, and promotional campaigns — complete with theme selection, dynamic placeholders, and built-in performance analytics.

Email campaigns have been a staple of Odoo’s marketing toolkit for years. But emails are fundamentally text documents with some formatting bolted on, and there’s a ceiling to how visually engaging they can be without turning every message into a design project. The new Marketing Card application takes a different approach entirely: instead of sending styled emails, it lets businesses create and distribute personalized digital cards — branded visual assets that look closer to an invitation or a gift voucher than a newsletter.

The module ships as a standalone application inside the Marketing suite, and it fills a gap that previously required either third-party tools or manual design work for every campaign.

Building a Card Campaign From Scratch

The campaign form is structured around a few core decisions. Businesses name their campaign, select a recipient type — Contacts, Event Booth participants, Event Registrations, or Event Track speakers — and assign a responsible user and optional tags for organization. The recipient type determines which pool of people the campaign targets, while the actual filtering happens through a separate email form where specific contacts can be included or excluded.

There’s also a post link field for attaching a URL that recipients can visit after viewing the card, and a suggestions section for related content. These small touches turn the card from a one-off visual into something that drives traffic back to the business.

The Card Layout System

Where Marketing Card distinguishes itself from email campaigns is the visual builder. The Card Layout tab provides controls for background images and colors, header text, content sections, dynamic images, and call-to-action buttons. Rather than wrestling with HTML templates or drag-and-drop email builders, users configure visual elements through structured form fields.

The module also supports dynamic placeholders — fields that automatically populate with recipient-specific data like names, company information, or event details. This means a single campaign template can produce thousands of individually personalized cards without manual editing.

Above the preview section, users choose from a set of selectable themes that control the overall visual style. Pick a theme, adjust the content, and the preview updates in real time.

Recipient Messages and Rewards

The Recipient Message tab adds another layer to the card experience. Businesses can include a request description, reward links, and thank-you messages that appear when recipients interact with the card. This transforms the card from a passive visual into an interactive touchpoint — recipients don’t just look at it, they engage with it and receive something in return.

For event-focused campaigns, this opens up practical use cases: send personalized cards to conference speakers thanking them for their session, include a reward link to a discount or exclusive content, and track who actually engages with the offer.

Sending and Scheduling

When the card design is ready, the Send Cards form handles distribution. Users configure the mailing details — subject lines, sender information, and recipient filters — and choose between immediate delivery or scheduled sending. The workflow feels similar to email marketing, but the payload is a visual card rather than a text-heavy message.

Tracking What Matters

Each campaign comes with built-in analytics through smart buttons that track five metrics: total mailings sent, link clicks, cards delivered, card opens, and shares. These aren’t just vanity numbers — the click and share data tells marketers whether their card design and reward structure actually drove engagement, while the open rate reveals how compelling the subject line and initial presentation were.

The dashboard supports both list and kanban views for managing multiple campaigns simultaneously, which matters for teams running parallel campaigns across different events or customer segments.

Where This Fits in the Marketing Stack

Marketing Card sits alongside Email Marketing, SMS Marketing, and Social Marketing in Odoo’s marketing suite. It doesn’t replace email campaigns — it handles the scenarios where a visual-first approach makes more sense than a text-first one. Event follow-ups, seasonal promotions, customer appreciation campaigns, and product launches are all natural fits for a format that prioritizes visual impact over information density.

The event integration is particularly well-thought-out. By supporting Event Booth, Event Registration, and Event Track recipient types natively, the module connects directly to Odoo’s event management system without requiring custom integrations or manual contact exports. Run an event, then launch a card campaign targeting everyone who registered — the recipient list builds itself.
